2030 calendar

2030 opens on a Tuesday, the least useful weekday New Year's Day can take, since it sits in the middle of the working week and joins nothing on either side. Ramadan begins on Saturday 5 January, and this is the year it arrives twice: the second Ramadan of 2030 starts on Thursday 26 December, so the year both opens and closes inside shortened working hours. Eid Al Fitr falls on Monday 4, Tuesday 5 and Wednesday 6 February, three clean working days taken out of the middle of a week.

Arafah Day is on Friday 12 April with Eid Al Adha on Saturday 13, Sunday 14 and Monday 15 April, so the four days cover the short Friday, the weekend and one full Monday. The Hijri New Year holiday on Friday 3 May takes another short day and extends another weekend. These are the earliest dates either observance takes in the five years covered here, which puts both of them in the pleasant part of spring rather than in the heat that follows a month later.

The Prophet Mohammed's Birthday holiday falls on Saturday 13 July, inside the weekend and taking no working day with it. The school holidays run from the first days of July into the last week of August as usual, and the summer runs its ordinary course: readings above 40°C from the middle of June, humidity at its worst through August, and the first evening that feels tolerable outdoors somewhere in the second half of October. Emirati Women's Day on 28 August and the start of the academic year land in the same week.

Eid Al Etihad falls on Monday 2 and Tuesday 3 December, so the weekend before it stretches to four days and the working week is left with three. Europe puts its clocks forward on 31 March, the latest date that change can fall, and back on 27 October; the UAE keeps UTC+4 through both, as it does every year without exception. The year runs to 365 days, closes on Tuesday 31 December, and hands the second Ramadan of 2030 straight over to the year that follows it.
