Privacy policy

This policy explains what happens to information when you use dubai-ti.me. It is written with reference to Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on the Protection of Personal Data, the United Arab Emirates' general data protection law, which is administered by the UAE Data Office. The short version is that this site is built so that there is very little personal data to handle in the first place.

There is no registration and no data collection form

You cannot create an account here, because there are no accounts. You are not asked for a name, an email address, a telephone number, an Emirates ID number, a date of birth or any other identifying detail before you can set an alarm, run a timer or use a calculator. There are no sign-up forms, no newsletter boxes and no contact forms that capture what you type.

What stays on your device

Alarm times, timer settings, calculator inputs and your cookie choice are held in your browser's own local storage, on the device you are using. This information is not transmitted to this site's servers, is not readable by the operator, and is not attached to any identifier. It stays where it was written until you clear this site's browsing data, which removes it completely.

Analytics

A visitor analytics script is used to count visits and to see which pages are being used, so that broken or pointless pages can be found and fixed. It loads only if you have consented to non-essential cookies. Decline, and it is not loaded at all — no script, no request, no counting — and every tool on the site continues to work exactly as before. Where the information collected by that script amounts to personal data, the basis relied on is your consent, which you may withdraw at any time by clearing this site's stored data and declining when asked again.

Server logs

Like any web server, the server hosting this site records ordinary technical information about requests, which can include an IP address, the page requested and the time of the request. It is used to keep the site running and secure, and is kept no longer than is needed for that purpose.

Your rights under the PDPL

The federal law gives data subjects rights including access to their data, correction, erasure, restriction of processing, objection, and the transfer of data where that applies. Because this site holds no accounts and no records that identify you, in practice there is normally nothing held about you for those rights to operate over beyond what sits in your own browser and can be deleted by you at any moment. If you believe otherwise, a request can be made using the details published on the contact page.

Free zones with their own regimes

The federal law is not the only data protection regime in the country. The Dubai International Financial Centre applies DIFC Data Protection Law No. 5 of 2020 and Abu Dhabi Global Market applies its own Data Protection Regulations, each with its own commissioner. This is stated here as a matter of fact rather than as advice: if you are reading this from inside one of those jurisdictions and need to know which regime governs a particular question, that is a matter for a qualified adviser rather than for this page.

Children

These tools are suitable for all ages and no information is knowingly collected from anyone, including children. Since nothing is submitted and no profile is built, no age verification is required or performed.
