A wedding countdown runs to the date and time you enter, down to the second, and it is the most-used custom countdown on any site of this kind. The date lives in your browser and nowhere else, so nothing about it is transmitted or stored away from your device.
Weddings in the Emirates have a season, and it is a narrow one. From late October to April the weather makes an outdoor ceremony straightforward — the beach venues, the desert resorts, the garden lawns and the rooftop terraces are all usable, and the evenings are comfortable without any intervention. Between May and September the same venues are indoor propositions, which is why the calendar is so densely booked at either end of the cool half of the year.
Two other things shape the timing. Weddings are not generally arranged during Ramadan, which moves about eleven days earlier each year and therefore blocks a different part of the Gregorian calendar each time. And in a country where most of the guest list arrives by air, the date has to work for people flying from three or four continents, which puts the announcement much further ahead than it would be elsewhere.
Once the moment arrives the countdown reports that it has, and stops there rather than starting again.
