Three of the five years from 2026 to 2030 place Eid Al Adha in May, and three place the Hijri New Year here as well, so the two can share a single month. Both are declared by the Cabinet after the crescent is sighted rather than worked out in advance, which is why a UAE calendar printed a year ahead carries an expected date and not a settled one.
Leave in May 2028 is mostly saved rather than spent. The school year still has weeks to run, whatever Eid days the year carries cover what they cover, and the annual departure that empties the country happens after the last day of term rather than before it.
The turn from May into June takes the country into the four months it exports its residents from. May 2028 hands over the last weeks of the school year to the month that ends it, and the last weeks before the departure halls begin running at capacity from early morning to late at night.
