Adding weeks keeps the weekday fixed, which is the entire appeal of counting in sevens: eight weeks from a Tuesday is a Tuesday and there is nothing to verify. This turns a number of weeks into a date and shows the equivalent in days alongside it.
It suits anything that recurs or runs in blocks — a fortnightly rota, a six-week course, a twelve-week training programme, a 40-week pregnancy count, a rolling notice period stated in weeks, a phased handover. Where a contract mixes units, giving weeks in one clause and days in another, having both figures side by side is what stops the two drifting apart.
Two things to watch. The weekday holds but the date of the month does not, so a four-weekly cycle produces thirteen occurrences a year rather than twelve and will never line up with month-end. And a fixed weekday gives no protection at all against the UAE's moving holidays: a weekly or fortnightly series laid out for a year will sooner or later collide with an Eid block whose position shifts about eleven days earlier each year, and the collision lands in a different place every time the series is renewed.
