From 15 June the midday break rule takes effect and runs to 15 September: work in direct sunlight is prohibited between 12:30 pm and 3 pm across the country, enforced by the Ministry of Human Resources with substantial penalties. Construction moves to a split day, starting before sunrise and resuming in the late afternoon, and the sound of a site at 5 am becomes the ordinary sound of June 2029.
June closes the second quarter of 2029 on the 30th and takes the calendar past its own halfway mark. For the visitor economy it is the bottom of the year: hotel occupancy at its lowest, the indoor attractions carrying what trade there is, and the summer programmes already running in the malls that will hold it up until October.
The move from June into July takes the UAE into its quietest weeks. June 2029 hands over the longest days of the year — already shortening, imperceptibly, from the solstice onwards — to the month that empties the schools, the roads and half of every office in the country.
