Three of the five years from 2026 to 2030 place Eid Al Adha in May, and three place the Hijri New Year here as well, so the two can share a single month. Both are declared by the Cabinet after the crescent is sighted rather than worked out in advance, which is why a UAE calendar printed a year ahead carries an expected date and not a settled one.
May sits in the middle of the second quarter of 2029, with Europe on summer time and the UAE exactly where it always is. The gap to London holds at three hours through the whole month, and the effect for anyone working across both is a morning overlap an hour longer than the same month in winter would give.
May 2029 closes with the summer fully arrived and the school year in its final weeks. June follows with the longest days of the calendar, the Hijri New Year in two of these five years, and the start of the midday break rule for outdoor work on the 15th.
