How to use the online timer

Your phone is still below the percentage you want before leaving, so you have started the countdown for a second round and returned to packing your keys, wallet and water. These one hundred and twenty-seven seconds give the battery a little more time on the charger without leaving you watching the screen. When the alert sounds again, you can check whether the extra charge is enough for your journey.

Because the phone may charge faster or slower than it did during the first round, the displayed duration can be changed directly on the page. A warm handset, a weak cable or apps running in the background may affect the percentage gained. If you only need enough battery for navigation or a digital boarding pass, shorten the next round; if you expect a long Metro ride or time away from a socket, add a little more.

While the phone takes its second brief charge, return to the task the first alert interrupted rather than starting something new. Put the last item in your bag, check your Nol card or confirm the taxi pickup point. Keeping that task small makes the next alert a useful stopping point, especially when you are heading into the UAE heat and do not want to delay indoors.
