How to use the online alarm clock
Three in the afternoon is when the government day ends. Federal offices close at 3:30 pm on a normal working day, so this hour is the last window for anything that needs a public counter, a stamped document or a phone call to a ministry line before tomorrow.
It is also when outdoor work resumes after the summer midday break, and when the afternoon call to prayer falls for much of the year — a marker that shifts a little every day and that a great many people here use to structure the second half of the afternoon without looking at a clock at all.
For anyone working with Europe this is the hour the other end wakes up properly: mid-afternoon here is the start of the European business day in earnest, which makes three o'clock the natural boundary between local work and international work in a lot of calendars. Sixty individual pages cover 3:00 pm to 3:59 pm.
