How to use the online alarm clock
Ten in the morning is when the malls open. Dubai Mall, Mall of the Emirates and the rest of the large centres unlock their doors around now, and since so much of ordinary life here happens indoors — the supermarket, the clinic, the phone shop, the barber — that single time governs a great deal of the day's errands.
It is also the hour of the mid-morning meeting, once the urgent post-arrival work is out of the way, and the point at which delivery windows for furniture, appliances and grocery orders typically begin.
Hotel checkout tends to sit at the end of this hour or the start of the next, which makes a ten o'clock reminder to be packed less stressful than discovering the time from housekeeping at the door. In the cooler months this is also the last comfortable hour for anything outdoors with small children before the sun becomes the deciding factor.
